Don’t Drink the Paint Stripper

This weekend flew by way to quickly, but I guess all weekends do. After my stressful Friday, I enjoyed a laid back Saturday and Sunday.

I started Saturday off with pumpkin pancakes. If you find a better way to start your morning, please contact me because I don’t think it’s possible.

The baby version.

While making pancakes, I had a slight huge heart attack. Munchkin had gotten his hands on some Windex. After making sure that none of it went in his mouth or on his skin, I realized he sprayed it all over our leather couches, which were now discolored because ammonia and leather apparently don’t go together. Who knew? Luckily, after wiping them down with water and leather conditioner I was able to fix the problem almost completely.  And the Windex went back into the baby proof cabinet, of course.

I baked up some Eggplant Parmesan for dinner which we enjoyed when Tommy returned from work. So yummy!

After dinner, we headed outdoors to help my dad. I’m not quite sure what he was doing, but he climbed a huge ladder with a pocketful of nails and a hammer and fixed something. I’ll take his word for it.

While Tommy held the ladder, I rummaged in the garage like I used to do as a child.  Someone please tell me you played store in your garage when you were a kid. I told Tommy about it and he made fun of me about how I probably planned marketing strategies to get people to come shop there. Anyway, I found this bottle on a top shelf since my father attempted to baby proof our garage, as best as you can baby proof an overly cluttered garage, filled with nuts, bolts and nails from the 1980s when my father worked construction. Maybe no one else will see the humor in this, but I almost peed my pants when I found it.

To translate it says “Paint stripper. Please don’t drink.” The thing that did it for me was the half smiley skull and crossbones as an attempt to further scare off someone, who might’ve thought my father was being greedy and wanted to drink the paint stripper himself.

Sadly, after my dad climbed off the roof, it was time for Tommy to head out to the Poconos. The rest of my night was spent online, reading blogs and playing Words With Friends. If you play Words With Friends, feel free to find me, I’m always down for a challenge.

Please ignore the fact that I am getting my butt kicked.

Sunday morning, we woke up and headed out to church. I really dislike going to church in New York and Munchkin dislikes it even more.  I feel like every old lady in the place flashes me a dirty look when Munchkin makes a noise. I’m sorry it’s no longer 1945 and I won’t smack my kid upside the head because he lacks the mental capacity to know he can’t speak in church. We made it through and on our way home we noticed there was a community flea market going on near our house. After some brunch, we walked over there, but didn’t find anything worth buying. I was hoping to find some frames for my Pinterest project, but no dice.

After a nap, Munchkin and I headed out for a walk in a direction we usually don’t venture out in.  We found and open playground in the local school and decided to stop for some slide action. Unfortunately, the jungle gym was filthy which grossed me out, so we moved on.

Dirt obviously doesn't phase him.

We ended up going to our local park, where Munchkin really enjoying crunching the fallen leaves.  I think my love for fall may be wearing off on him.

We came home, had some leftovers for dinner and Munchkin went beddy bye. And all that was left for me to do was to dive into my books.  I know, you’re so jealous.

Overall, I’d say I had a good weekend, nothing exciting, but sometimes you need some low-key time to bum around the house.

Have a great Monday and an awesome week!

What did you do this weekend? What was your favorite game as a child?
