Last Weekend of Summer

I think the best way to describe this weekend was wet.  It poured on Friday and Sunday, and when it didn’t pour on Saturday, the grass was still super wet leaving Munchkin partially soaked after a go on his new swing set.

Before the storms rolled in on Friday, Munchkin and I went to the park for a bike ride.  We took a little break from the bike to go on the jungle gyms, and Munchkin decided to go crazy in the sprinklers.

We spent the afternoon doing laundry and attempting to leave for the Poconos, but the storms kept us home until very late at night.

We woke up to sunshine on Saturday, but as soon as we went to step in the grass to play on the swing set, it felt like we were walking into a swamp.  Munchkin didn’t seem to mind in the least bit and he had a blast running around and going down the slide. I also made some oatmeal craisin cookies, while Munchkin took his afternoon nap.

On Saturday night, we went out to dinner to celebrate Tommy’s dad’s birthday.  We met up at Longhorn Steakhouse around 7:30 and the place was hopping.  We had to wait over an hour to get seated, but with good company the wait time flew by.  Everyone had steak with the exception of Munchkin who enjoyed some grilled chicken strips. Even though we had a bad experience last time we went there, this time was completely the opposite.  Our server was great and all our food came out quick and the orders where right.

We spent Sunday at Tommy’s aunt Krys’ house.  We got there early enough to enjoy their amazing pool and a delicious dinner outdoors.  Their pool is heated to over 80 degrees, so it was actually felt colder out of the water than in it.  Before we got a chance to get to dessert, the sky started going black and lightening began flashing in the distance.  We hightailed it indoors, were we parked our butts on the Lovesac couches and Sac and watched some TV,  or fell asleep if your name is Tommy.  If you’ve never sat on one of those bad boys, you’re missing out big time.

Our plan had been to wait out the rain, but it seemed to get worse and worse the longer we waited. Since Munchkin was starting to get cranky and bitey, we decided to get going.  Luckily, we drove out of the path of the rain and it wasn’t raining at all when we got home.

Today seems like its going to be a beautiful day weather-wise, but sadly instead of spending my evening with my two loves, I will be spending it inside a windowless classroom because it’s my first day of school.  This summer passed by way to fast and I am not ready to get back to school, but I have to hunker down and get through it.  Only a few months until winter break and a few more until next summer.

Have a great week everyone!
